Accessibility improvements

HealthAdvisor assessments are now easier for users with disabilities to access.

What it is

Enhancements include:

  • Tooltip heading and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) attributes have been added
  • Input field ARIA attributes
  • Date of birth multi-field (MM/DD/YYYY) elements
  • Modal ARIA attributes and tab focus logic

How it works

The underlying code has been updated to allow better interaction between the assessments and various accessibility tools. So while there is no change to the user interface, users are able to navigate through the assessments using tools that support various needs.

Why it matters

Many users rely on accessibility tools to help them get the information they need from the internet, and HealthAdvisor assessments are now more compatible with these tools. For instance, HealthAdvisor now has better support for  users who need to use speech input to identify and select different elements on screen. It’s also more compatible with screen readers so they can better relay the information and HealthAdvisor assessment questions on screen. The enhancements described above significantly improve compatibility with accessibility tools and improve experience for users who employ them!
